This is an exciting time for the George Baker group and due to high demand for our service we are now looking for Class 1 Drivers to join our team at Tilbury.

We provide all our drivers with high spec vehicles with great facilities including TV, microwave and fridge on board, and secure overnight parking also with excellent driver facilities. You will be joining a loyal, established team of drivers – we are proud of our high staff retention with some drivers exceeding 10 years service with George Baker.

Working as a Tramper driver you will be based from Tilbury and distributing goods for our customers all over the country, working up to 70 hours a week.

    The Role

    We are looking for an experienced Customs Clearance Executive.  You will process clearance for customers focusing on providing a first class and efficient service, utilising your specialist knowledge and communication skills as part of a teamwork focused organisation.

    • Import customs clearance / customs entries
    • Verifying, processing and organising all documentation to deadlines
    • Working with quickly evolving new customs legislation and border processes
    • Providing expert guidance to colleagues and customers
    • Query handling and problem solving

    What We’re Looking For

    This position requires 2-3 years clearance experience as a minimum. With our extensive experience and specialised knowledge in all aspects of freight forwarding, we are able to provide our customers with a one-stop shop supply chain service. We integrate our ocean, air, and road freight services with our warehousing, distribution, and supply chain solutions to offer tailored solutions to our customers.

      We now have a fantastic opportunity for a sales-driven and highly motivated individual to join our commercial team. With a key focus on outbound telephone sales, your role will be to qualify and convert sales leads, building a rapport with the customer to gain new business.

      The role

      As an adept Sales Specialist working within our Outbound Sales Division at George Baker Group, your focus will be on initiating calls, cultivating relationships, and managing a vast customer database using our CRM system. In this dynamic role, you’ll attend events, prepare quotes, and identify new business opportunities, requiring effective communication within our established team and independent time management.

      Join us to drive success through precise CRM documentation, responsive customer engagement, and proactive lead generation. Your ability to work both collaboratively and independently will be instrumental in shaping the continued success of the George Baker Group.

      Required Skills

      • Previous sales/telesales experience essential
      • Knowledge of the logistics sector is preferable
      • Excellent communication skills and comfortable with outbound sales calls
      • Enthusiastic, confident and engaging
      • Experience in using a CRM is an advantage
      • Self-motivated, reliable, trustworthy, and hard-working

        We are seeking a dedicated professional to join our George Baker team as an SCDP Supervisor. In this role, you will play a crucial part in managing the SCDP authorisation process and ensuring compliance with customs regulations.

        • Lead and supervise the day-to-day execution of the SCDP process.
        • Ensure compliance with the conditions of the SCDP authorisation.
        • Complete simplified frontier declarations, supplementary declarations, and final supplementary declarations accurately and in a timely manner.
        • Verify, process, and organize all documentation to deadlines.
        • Stay abreast of quickly evolving new customs legislation and border processes.
        • Provide expert guidance to colleagues and customers.
        • Handle queries and solve problems effectively.
